Beaumont Middle School serves a diverse community of learners in northeast Portland. Our school's goals are embodied in our motto, AASABE, which stands for Academic Achievement for every student, Situationally Appropriate Behavior, and includes students, staff, families and community in providing the support necessary for each student to reach high academic standards. We are proud of the tremendous growth in academic achievement our students have shown in the past few years and are committed to continuing our efforts to reach higher standards in the future. Quarterly celebrations are held for academic achievement and positive behavior. Science and math programs, taught by specialists in each area, focus on hands-on, problem-solving activities and a strong knowledge base in each area. Modified self-contained sixth-seventh grade classrooms give students a "home base" while allowing them to experience lab science, PE, math and electives taught by specialists. Eighth grade students experience a more traditional middle school schedule to prepare them for high school. At all levels, students receive language arts instruction in classes of 15 or fewer. This enables teachers to provide individual attention and focused instruction which leads to higher achievement. A varied elective program, including French, Spanish, art, drama, band and science electives, is supplemented by extended-day SUN school clubs.
