Located in the heart of Southeast Portland's Sellwood neighborhood, our school is known for its commitment to academics, wide range of electives and activities, engaged parent community and dedicated staff. Our students start in 6th grade as they make the transition from elementary school, and in three years, they leave well prepared for the rigors of high school. Along the way there's a lot of fun and enrichment - ways to get involved and make new friends. Our school has one of the strongest music programs in Portland, with three levels of concert band, a jazz band and two marimba bands. Other electives range from art and shop to Spanish and media production. After-school activities include drama, dance team, sports and homework club. Most importantly, students attending Sellwood Middle School can earn high school credits in math and Spanish, ensuring they are ready to enter International Baccalaureate or Advanced Placement programs in high school.
