Urban Tour Group is a volunteer organization dedicated to giving young people a sampling of the history, culture, architecture, and resources of Portland, Oregon. Our members act as guides to school groups in the downtown area in the hope that students will gain an awareness and appreciation of the urban environment. Elementary school teachers looking to bring Portland's history and civic culture alive for their Social Studies programs can choose between three walking tours offered during fall and spring touring seasons: Early City Tour - Building a City Tour - Life in the City Tour. Middle school teachers looking to highlight the historical relationship between Portland and the Willamette River for their Social Studies and Science programs can choose the Waterfront Tour.
Adult and family walking tours are more customized, and can be booked without regard to our regular school touring seasons.
