With a solid background in classical architecture and wise land use, architect Barry R. Smith is a member of the National Council of Architecture Review Board (NCARB) and licensed in Oregon, Washington, California, Hawaii and Louisiana. A graduate of Tulane School of Architecture in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he later taught, Smith introduced a successful series of experimental courses at Tulane that focused on Infill Design: designing structures that not only fit and improve a city's infrastructure, but that also meet governmental, environmental and neighborhood demands. Coupled with his expertise in historical architecture, he continues that philosophy today in Portland.
